Benefit from the popularity of Rotterdam among students

Expats and international students, these are mainly the tenants to whom Riva grants a home. Because expats and international (master) students are great tenants to rent out. In most cases, international students are looking for an apartment together with friends, because this is of course cheaper. The average is between € 450 and € 700 per person. They expect a spacious bedroom with space for a double bed. As a landlord, if you have a house with three spacious bedrooms, this will easily yield € 1,500 per month! So take advantage of the rising room prices and rental or invest in housing for students. Vacancy is minimal and the return is high. Would you like to know more about student rental in Rotterdam and what we can do for you? Discuss it without obligation with one of our brokers.

The municipality of Rotterdam wants to start a new annual tradition with a welcoming campaign for students. As said, Riva likes to offer homes to students. So we gladly embrace this initiative by the city and the involved schools and other stakeholders.

"Rotterdam is all about you,'' is what Alderman for Education Said Kasmi said during the kick-off august the 24th. The welcoming ceremony must be the start of an annual tradition! For the occasion a new Instagram-account: @heystudent010 and the hashtag #heystudent010 has been put into use, as is a special new website.

The website www.rotterdamstaatomjoutespringen.nl provides students with useful information to help find their way in the city. Links to information about education, health, public transport, student associations, work and internships and of course ideas to spend spare time in Rotterdam.

Induction to the city

The induction period at the beginning of the season is important for new students. They are introduced to the city, their education and fellow students. Starting this school year, educational institutions and the municipality will work together to give this first acquaintance and bond with the city an extra boost.

Alderman Said Kasmi (Education, Culture & Tourism): “Now that the introduction weeks have been adjusted due to corona measures, this campaign is even more appropriate. We want to let students know that they are welcome here anyway, because they are important to the city. Rotterdam is eager for students who find the dynamism of Rotterdam attractive and are happy to contribute to it. Here they are given all the space to develop their talents and be themselves. You can be curious here, practice, trial and error. ”

The campaign is aimed at all new students, from MBO to University. Because from this academic year it has been legally stipulated that young people in MBO will from now on be addressed as students. Alderman Kasmi: “I am very happy about that, because we really need MBO students, especially in Rotterdam, a city par excellence with many opportunities for MBO students. There is enough challenge and employment for them and they are of enormous resistance to our city. ”

Riva accommodates more and more (international) students. We also want to guide them in the city. That's why we also make our own guides. Enjoy.
